January 2020 Bulletin

Why a full service dealer is different and what it means for you:

We operate from an established place of business.

This allows us to take your calls and respond to your needs 24 hours a day. We have a full support staff on duty to help you if you need us.

We carry a full complement of insurance.

If one of our drivers or technicians slips and injures himself on your property, our insurance will cover it. If you deal with a company that doesn’t have proper coverage, that may come back to you and your insurance.

We own a full fleet of delivery vehicles and service vans.

A well maintained fleet of vehicles means you can count on us to be there when you need us. Some dealers have 1 truck, and no service vans. What will happen to you if their trucks are not running?

We carry an extensive inventory of equipment and parts.

Inventory allows us to repair or replace anything in an emergency. Our service vans are fully stocked to be able to repair or replace what’s needed immediately.

We are local.

Our technicians all live in the community we serve. This allows faster response time to you…even after hours.

Our 2020 Scenic Calendars

These calendars are in our office and they are available for you and your friends. Please stop in for your copy. Or, if you can’t make it to us, call us and we will mail one to you or bring it with us at your next oil delivery or service.

Most thermostats now have batteries that need replacement periodically. Please change yours at least twice per year. (We recommend you do it when you move the clocks forward and back). This is the cause of many “No Heat” calls that come in. If you have any questions, please call us at 781-834-8831.

By definition from the Weather Bureau, a Degree Day is the average of the high and low temperature of the 24 hour period of that day, subtracted from a reference temperature of 65 degrees. (Ex: High temp. was 40 degrees; Low was 20 degrees; the Average temp. was 30 Degrees. Subtract 30 from 65 and it gives you 35 Degree Days for that day) Knowing the rate at which you consume oil to heat your home (we call this your consumption rate, or k-factor), we can then determine how much oil you have used during that period of 35 Degree Days. As these Degree Days accumulate each day, we are also able to determine how much oil you are using and when we will need to refill your tank. Pretty neat stuff, huh?

**Editors note: We start counting (accumulating) DDays as of September 1st. As of the end of December 2019, we are 10% behind a normal season to date. (2140 vs 2380 normal) Dec. 2019 was pretty close to a normal month, but September, October and November were all on the warmer side. We will see what the rest of the winter brings us.

Some friendly reminders about information that’s helpful to us to keep your deliveries coming on a timely manner:

  • If you have any changes in your living habits, household occupancy, or have recently renovated and added on to your home, please call us and let us know. Your oil usage may be affected by this.
  • Please keep your driveway clear for us so we can get close enough to make the delivery. Remember, our trucks are wider than the cars and SUV’s you drive.
  • Please remember to keep a clear path to your fill pipe. If there is a gate to pass through, please keep that clear as well.
  • If you have a steep or long driveway, we already know. If there is snow in the forecast, you may see us earlier than normal just so we can make sure you are full in case the snow lasts for a while.

We want to thank you for all of your efforts in keeping your account up to date. It is the time of year when some of you may be seeing us more than once a month for an oil delivery, and by keeping your account current, we can schedule your next delivery for you at the appropriate time. Please call us if you are having any difficulty keeping up and we will do what we can to accommodate you. As always, we want to Thank You for choosing us as your service provider. We appreciate your business!

Humidifiers are an important energy saving addition to your heating system. Body moisture escapes faster in dry air, making you feel cooler. By adding moisture to the air, you will feel warmer at a lower room temperature.

Other advantages are: Less wearing of carpets and upholstery; less shrinkage of woodwork; longer life of furniture; etc…

If you would like a free estimate on installing a humidification system in your home, please call us at 781-834-8831, or email us.

I’m sure you have all heard that expression before……Well, we are true believers in that. We are proud to support several local events and charitable organizations, year after year.
